I just wanted to let you know how much my family and I enjoyed the “Sounds of the season” concert last night, at John Knox Villiage! It was so wonderful! The orchestra sounded fabulous! It was well worth the drive to Lee’s Summit from Concordia, MO. The conductor was very enjoyable also.
My grandmother lived in Lee’s Summit for over 30 years and passed away in 2001. I can remember going with her and our family one time to the pavilion for a performance by an orchestra, and really enjoyed it. The house was packed! I recently saw the ad, at the last minute, in the KC Star paper, about the upcoming performance and immediately wanted to go and bring our children who are 21, 14, and 5 years old. We all love orchestra music and listen to it all the time. My children have grown up listening to it as did I, and love it very much. It is very much appreciated to be able to go to such a wonderful performance that we could take our whole family to that was free! Since we have struggled with my husband having steady work all this year in construction, and being a one income family, it is next to impossible to take our family to any kind of performance for a reasonable price!
So, we all dressed up, got in the car and drove the 50 miles, and went to the performance. Afterwords, we drove by my grandmothers home she used to live in down the road, and reminisced about mine and my older children’s Christmases spent with her. We shed a few tears and then, went to eat dinner together. It was a great evening with my family.
Thank you so much! And we will be seeing you more! In fact, we are going to start a new family tradition with our children and come every Christmas time to see your performances! I will definitely be following your website.
    Sincerely,
    Lara Goins

      Lara,
I am so glad you were able to attend last night and that your family enjoyed the concert. We love to hear from listeners like you and will continue to strive to keep our concerts free so that all may enjoy them. We perform several times throughout the year and I hope you will be able to attend one of our classical concerts during the second half of our season!

It is very astute to have a “sound of the season” concert on both sides of town! I was at the 95th Street performance watching my cousin’s very brave daughter, a violinist, perform despite just losing her mother. She and the orchestra put on a lively, beautiful and classy performance. This was my first concert but I will be at many more.
